Low density thermal gap pad releases a new concept in thermal silicone pad family, many people don’t recongnize the significance of low density. GLPOLY focused and developed such a thermal gap pad beyond the competitors. So what benefits does this product bring us?
One of our customers designed a thermal management system on power battery using traditional high performance silicone thermal pad for cooling. After verificating, this design was denied, because there are 32pcs thermal pads will be applied and up to a weight of 8.2kg, the total weight of battery pack exceeds expectation.
In this case we recommended a new product—low density thermal pad. The density of this thermal pad is only 1.6g/cm3, which is two thirds of that of traditional thermal silicone pad, but the thermal performance is still equivelant to traditional thermal gap pad, this customer asked for samples to test. Two weeks later, this customer told us that all data met requirements, and total weight of thermla pad is lighter by 2.16kg, this product is perfect for EV battery thermal management.
That means we can raise the energy density by using low density thermal gap pad if we keep weight no change, or the total weight of EV will be lighter, it will extend the mileage and battery life. This is a important element for EV BMS management.
