Radar is a vital part of auto pilot, maximum range and resolution of millimeter wave radar(MMW) far exceeds existing automotive radar, but we must resolve thermal management problem first because the power of MMW radar is greater than that of traditional automotive radar.
Customer had tried Laird Tflex HD400, this is a high deflection thermal pad, featuring with high compression under low pressure and wet out which will optimize thermal transferring. But in specific application, cutomer found that the compression ratio is too big under designed pressure and thermal performance is a little lower than expected, mismatching effectivity of 4.0W/mK thermal conductivity.We are not taking Laird Tflex HD400 down.
Thermal performance will be affected by many factors. Most of customers buy product from agent, but they don’t know the product they buy is what they want exactly, because they are unable to test the materials.
The customer consulted with GLPOLY about thermal materials, clearing requirements, the temperature of core is about 120℃, they want to cool it down to 80℃,with the features of 5.0W/mK high thermal conductivity and 0.21℃in2/W low thermal resistance,we recommended thermal pad XK-P50 and we are confident that thermal gap pad XK-P50 can meet the requirements.
