Here is a case. One customer designed a thermal solution for LED lighting of yacht, on board and sides of yacht. This customer wanted to use a non-silicone thermal interface materials instead of traditional silicone based thermal interface materials. Because there would be siloxane volatile if silicone thermal management materials was used. Customer said they had tested a non-silicone thermal gel called THERM-A-GAP GEL25 NS. This material was a single part, non-silicone based, dispensable, paste gap filling material. All indexes were good except thermal performance, the thermal conductivity was a little lower and heat transfer was not effective enough, a higher thermal conductivity non-silicone thermal gel was needed.

According to customer’s intention, we provided technical data sheet of a 3.0W/mK non-silicone thermal gel XK-GN30 for him. Comparing with THERM-A-GAP GEL25NS with 2.5W/mK thermal conductivity, XK-GN30 provided more excellent thermal performance. even it was just 0.5W/mK higher, the performance would be great different. That’s a critical point theory which validated by our engineers.

Customer wished to test our product and make a comparison between XK-GN30 and THERM-A-GAP GEL25NS. Two months later, customer told me XK-GN30 was much reliable due to less change on indexes before and after aging test, the temperature rise was even lower than they expected. Furthermore, compared with THERM-A-GAP GEL25NS’s 40-day lead time, GLPOLY XK-GN30 non-silicone thermal gel’s lead time was only 15days, providing purchaisng and logistics flexibility. I haven’t received quality complaint for three years from this customer since we established partnership.
