GLPOLY thermal gap filler XK-S30 is a two-component, electrical insulation, liquid gap filling material that cures either at room temperature or elevated temperature as an elastomer. It has been applied in EV battery pack and electric motor widely.

At present, GLPOLY XK-S30 thermal gap filler has been applied to EV battery pack and high end electronic devices.

In 2018, a customer called me and said he wanted to find a thermal gap filler for EV battery pack, requesting a thermal conductivity of 3.0W/mK or 4.0W/mK. According to our experience, currently, 3.0W/mK was enough for EV battery pack’s thermal management, providing a balance between function and cost. After discussing with desgin team, we reached an agreement on 3.0W/mK. The next focus was reliability, also this was one of the most concerned features. We spent one month to draft the reliability test method with customer which included high temperature aging test at 125 celsius degree for 2000 hours, high and low temperature cycling from minus 40 to 125 celsius degree for 500 cycles and thermal shock minus 40 to 125 celsius degree for 500 cycles and came to an agreement, the change of critical indexes before and after test should less than 10%.

One hundred days went by when we finished the test and data treatment. Customer was surprised when they reviewed the test report. The critical indexes such as thermal conductivity, dielectric strength, hardness and tensile strength were extremely stable, the changes before and after test were less than 5%. Customer decided to start trial. One year later, customer called me on day, told me the trial was successful, GLPOLY XK-S30 thermal gap filler was designated.
