I got some inquiries from customer about thermal interface materials for automotive electronics including interactive system, What properties should be considered and how do we select? Here is suggestion.
Silicone free thermal pad. The thermal conductivity of silicone free thermal pad is ranked from 2.0W/mK to 6.0W/mK, it provides low thermal resistance and low hardness, optimizing thermal performance. More importantly, there is no low molecular weight siloxane volatiles. We know that in traditionl thermal silicone pad, siloxane will volatilize under high temperature, the volatiles maybe affect performance of electronics component and make dispayer atomized. Silicone free thermal pad can avoid this, offerring a better experience to customer.
Silicone free thermal gel. Besides the benefits of no siloxane volatiles and high thermal conductivity, thermal gel provides extremely low thermal resistance which is much lower than that of thermal gap pad. Thermal gel’s performance is as good as thermal grease’s, but it never runs like thermal grease. What’s more, thermal gel never dry up or pump out, providing excellent stability and reliability.
