Comparison between GLPOLY silicone free thermal tape XK-TN08 and 3M 9890
3M 9890 Thermal tape is a thermally conductive, electrically isolation silicone free thermal interface material specially designed for application when a strong structural bond is required. There is no silicone oild, no siloxane volatiles, it’s ideal for silicone sensitive applications.
3M 9890 is a medium performance thermal tape, thermal conductive is 0.6W/mK, thermal resistance is 0.9℃in2/W. 3M has great reputation in the field of thermal tape, is it indispensable? Of course it’s not. GLPOLY developed a silicone free thermal tape years ago, called XK-TN08 silicone free thermal tape. It provides 0.8W/mK of thermal conductivity and 0.69℃in2/W of thermal resistance, we can find out that XK-TN08 offers better thermal performance than 3M 9890.
Except thermally conductive, bond strength is the other main reason to be chosen by customer. Differ from traditional tape bonding mode, GLPOLY XK-TN08’s bond strength depends on molecular bonding force between thermal tape and heatsink, this makes bond more stable, and as time goes on, bond will become more firmly. GLPOLY XK-TN08 provides another advantage for customer. if customer need a strong bond in a short time, we can heat the part up, the higher the temperature, the fast the bond reaction, of course, never exceed the upper limit of temperature.
