Because of understanding of materials, people may call a material by different names, such as 3M 2810 and GLPOLY XK-SN20, people call the former non-silicone two part thermal compound and the latter thermal sealing compound. Is there any different between these two materials? Let’s learn them briefly.

From the materials, both 3M 2810 and XK-SN20 are epoxy based, filled with ceramic powder as thermally conductive material. Before applying, we need to mix two parts 1:1 in volume completely, or materials won’t get cured. After cured, mixture will become really harder.

Compared with traditional two part thermal silicone gel, epoxy based thermal compound has much stronger adhesion. 3M 2810 and GLPOLY XK-SN20 have a low viscosity, so the nature of good flowability is suitable for uneven topography. We can find that 3M 2810 and GLPOLY XK-SN20 are of the same category.

3M 2810 and GLPOLY XK-SN20 have similar thermal performance, thermal conductivity is about 1.5W/mK. They can work as a sealant while it’s functioning thermally conductive, suitable for electric vehicle battery pack cooling system. As the good flowability, they can fill the air gaps automatically, expelling air, decreasing thermal resistance, and makes thermal performance optimized.

Inconclusion, there is no much difference between 3M 2810 and GLPOLY XK-SN20, you can select GLPOLY XK-SN20 as a perfect alternative to 3M 2810.
