Find a perfect alternative of 3M 5589H
GLPOLY is at the leading-edge of silicone free thermal interface materials development, regarding 3M,FUJIPOLY etc as main rival. Now I use 3M 5589H and GLPOLY XK-PN20 as an example to check out which is better.
3M 5589H is acrylic based thermally conductive which is suitable for silicone-sensitive applications. Its thermal conductivity is 2.0W/mK, it’s a medium thermal performance silicone free thermal pad. In GLPOLY’s product range, we recommend XK-PN20 with 2.0W/mK of thermal conductivity, this product is similar to 3M 5589H. We’ll see what the differences are.
The thermal conductivity of both products is the same, we check another key element, it’s thermal resistance. We tested both, speciman is 1.0mm thick. 3M 5589H’s thermal resistance is 1.33℃in2/W, it’s really high compared to 0.37℃in2/W of GLPOLY XK-PN20 thermal resistance. Obviously, GLPOLY XK-PN20 silicone free thermal pad provides better performance than 3M 5589H.
For silicone free thermal materials, there is fault we can not ignor---application temperature. most of silicone free thermal interface materials’ upper temperature limit is 125 degree, also is GLPOLY XK-PN20 silicone free thermal pad. But compared with XK-PN20, 3M 5589H just provides a upper limit temperature of 100 degree.
