In the past, thermal grease was the major thermal solution in these applications, but GLPOLY thermal gel outperforms silicone grease perfectly.
A customer contact me and inquiry about thermal management material that replaces thermal silicone grease. Customer said they tried silicone grease with a thermal conductivity of 5.0W/mK for automotive electronic control units(ECUs, or on board computer), the thermal performance is good enough, but the concern is long-term service life. We known that thermal silicone grease has a short service life of one or two years, because silicone oil will volatilize, especially in a continuous high temperature working condition, the volatization process is faster. Consequently, thermal silicone grease became dry and failed to function.
Years ago, GLPOLY had predicted this situation and release a product replacing thermal silicone grease. As a perfect substitute, thermal gel provided similar performance to silicone grease, but avoid disadvantages like thermal grease, such as dry out, drip off etc., thermal gel was designed to solve these problems.
Customer had been attracted by the advantages of thermal gel, he was willing to test a 5.0W/mK thermal gel. Along with sample XK-G50 thermal putty gel, a suggestion about accelerated high temperature aging test method was provided which help customer test and predict reliability and service life of product.
According to our accelerated high temperature reliability test method, product would be tested at four tiers of temperature for two months at most. Customer fed back immediately when test was finished, thermal putty performed very well, no oil leakage, non-dry out, also it was easy to wipe off. Temperature was 10 centigrade lower than engineer’s requirement.
