Earlier this year, a smart phone manufacturer contacted me and enquire about thermal interface materials, especially thermal gel. I learned that Chomerics THERM-A-GAP GEL30 was one of the targets too. This meant that we needed to compete with Chomerics face to face. According to our previous successful cases, GLPOLY thermal gel XK-G30 had been used as an alternate to Chomerics THERM-A-GAP GEL30 already. We were still confident this time.
This customer wanted to test XK-G30 thermal gel by himself after they reviewed technical data sheet. High temperature aging test should be proceeded at 150 centigrade for 1000 hours, physical, thermal properties would be compared between XK-G30 and Chomerics THERM-A-GAP-GEL30.
One and half a month later, customer told me the test result: two products provides similar thermal performance, but data change is apparent. Comapring with 10% change of Chomerics THERM-A-GAP GEL30 before and after high temperature aging test, GLPOLY thermal gel XK-G30’s change was 5% only. Antoher item was outgassing test. The siloxane volatile of THERM-A-GAP GEL30 was about 0.05% which was five times higher than that of GLPOLY XK-G30 thermal gel. The result exhibited that GLPOLY thermal gel was much more reliable than THERM-A-GAP GEL30. Siloxane volatiles would affect performance of displayer, we must keep siloxane volatile as low as possible, and GLPOLY thermal gel made it. Maybe you could not find a similar one in China.
