Judging the performance of thermally conductive epoxy adhesive by bonding strength only is never accurate, but we need to take more factors such as thermal conductivity, thermal resistance, application condition, hardness and electrical insulation into account.

Some purchasing officers don’t know well about thermally conductive adhesives, they just focus on bonding strength and ingore other features. To a professional thermal management engineer, more detail would be considered.

A EV manufacturer from Hangzhou found us from internet and ask about thermally conductive adhesive with a bonding strength of 7MPa at least, for replacing Berguquist Liqui-Bond EA1805.

After we knew about customer’s application, we found out that 7MPa is not strong enough to ensure bonding between modules. Customer asked for samples for test. Two weeks later, they told me that they satified with test result. The temperature of battery pack keeps at 50 centigrade degree.
