What are the scariest parts to carmakers or battery makers? Whatever they are, one thing is for sure---recall would be a great blow. For electric vehicles, the battery packs always takes primary focus from parties, carmakers, battery makers and consumers.
With the advancement of battery technology, “CTP”battery pack is known as mainstream solution. New solution “Cell To Pack” generates demands for new material---thermally conductive structural adhesives. What materials would be the options? I guess the thermally conductive structural adhesives you designed for EV battery cell bond are polyurethane or epoxy based. Do you validate the reliability of these two products?
Polyurethane or epoxy based products are widely used ones with a long history, but it doesn’t mean they are the right solutions for EV battery cell bond due to the poor reliability exhibited in extreme temperature cycling verification. According to our accelerated simulation test, the key performances of polyurethane and epoxy based thermally conductive structural adhesives were decreased by 40% at least after high and low temperature at 125 Celsius degree for 500 cycles. This was really unacceptable in EV or any automotive applications.
GLPOLY launched a new material---XK-D series of modified epoxy thermally conductives structural adhesives. Comparing with PU and epoxy based products, GLPOLY XK-D series products have the features and advantages:
1. Patented new material designed for EV battery cell bond, proven reliability in extreme temperature cycling and shock, indexes change before and after test are less than 10%;
2. Thermal conductivity 1.2-3.0W/mK meets diverse design requirements, twice as high as that of PU and epoxy based products; Bonding strength 8MPa is twice as strong as competitive products;
3. Performances are customized according to customers’ design requirement or practical application conditions; cure schedules are designed to suit customer processes.
GLPOLY thermally conductive structural adhesives are in trial production in carmakers, battery makers such as AIWAYS Motor, Lixiang Motor, Xiaokang Motor, LISHEN Battery, Farasis Energy and more.
GLPOLY is ready to help you solve thermal management challenge of EV battery pack, keeping it running reliably and extending service life.
